As a shareholder of ABA Bank since 2014, National Bank of Canada became the first major financial institution from North America to enter the Cambodian banking market.

In 2017, ABA Bank was awarded a long-term and short-term issuer credit rating of 'B' by Standard & Poor's Global Ratings. This rating was later upgraded to 'B+' with a Stable outlook in 2020 and reaffirmed in 2021.
